An experienced Agricultural Machinery Technician is required for a full-time role focused on the inspection, servicing, repair, maintenance, and installation of tractors and farm machinery. The position involves workshop-based work and customer-site callouts, with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs and maintenance within agreed timeframes and manufacturer specifications.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and testing procedures to ensure repairs are completed accurately.
  • Maintain detailed job records and complete all administration associated with work as it progresses.
  • Keep the work area clean and safe, including cleaning up oils/spills and maintaining tidy workshop practices.
  • Collect required information and coordinate parts ordering to support efficient turnaround.
  • Participate in rostered call-out work and complete reasonable overtime when required.
  • Work professionally with customers both on-site and in the field and follow site/contractor policies when working off-site.
  • Support training and development of apprentices or junior staff when required.
  • Stay up to date with new technology, tooling, and products and attend training as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 5 years of proven and documented experience in tractor/farm machinery servicing and repair (or closely related heavy diesel/mechanical work).
    • Work experience must be supported with verifiable documentation (e.g., reference letters, employment records, contracts, payslips).
  • Mechanical qualification preferred (diesel/mechanical strongly preferred).
  • Strong diagnostic capability and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise jobs and maintain high accuracy and quality standards.
  • Full New Zealand driver’s licence (or equivalent that can be converted) and a driving history that supports insurability.
  • Willingness to obtain any required licences/endorsements relevant to the role.
  • Competent and confident operating/handling tractors and farm machinery.

Immigration New Zealand Requirements (AEWV)

  • Must meet Immigration New Zealand’s AEWV English language requirements and provide acceptable English evidence at the time of application.
  • Must meet INZ character requirements (police certificates and background checks may be required).
  • Must meet INZ medical requirements (medical examinations may be required).

Health & Safety Expectations

  • Follow all health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Use appropriate PPE and complete pre-task risk assessments as required.
  • Report hazards/incidents promptly and work only within signed-off competency unless supervised.
