We are seeking experienced Butchers to work within a large meat processing operation in Nelson.

Although employed as Slaughterers under the Global Workforce Seasonal Visa, applicants with strong butchery backgrounds are encouraged to apply, particularly those with commercial meat plant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and prepare meat products.
  • Trim, cut, debone and portion meat.
  • Support slaughter floor and secondary processing operations.
  • Maintain food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Operate knives and meat processing equipment safely.
  • Work efficiently to production targets.

Preferred Experience

Applicants with experience in any of the following will be highly regarded:

  • Commercial meat plants
  • Boning rooms
  • Trimming
  • Knife sharpening
  • Band saw operation
  • Carcass cutting
  • Secondary processing
  • Livestock handling
  • Meat quality control

Experience with beef, lamb, pork, goat or poultry is advantageous.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of proven and documented commercial butchery or meat processing experience.
  • Strong knife skills.
  • Experience working within commercial meat plants preferred.
  • Physically fit.
