Global Workforce Seasonal Visa (GWSV)

We are seeking approximately 20 experienced Slaughterers to join a busy meat processing operation in Nelson, New Zealand.

These positions are available under the Global Workforce Seasonal Visa (GWSV) and are suited to experienced meat industry workers with slaughter floor, meat processing, or abattoir experience.

Applicants with previous experience as Slaughterers, Butchers, Meat Boners, or other skilled meat processing roles are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out slaughter floor duties safely and efficiently.
  • Perform stunning, sticking, bleeding, dressing, splitting, evisceration, and carcass preparation where experienced.
  • Operate knives and meat processing equipment safely.
  • Maintain strict hygiene, food safety, and workplace health and safety standards.
  • Work efficiently within production teams to achieve daily processing targets.
  • Carry out other meat processing duties as required.

  • Splitting
  • Dehairing
  • Opening chest, pelvic and belly
  • Evisceration
  • Carcass washing and shaving
  • Secondary processing
  • Trimming
  • Deboning
  • Knife handling and sharpening
  • Band saw operation
  • Carcass cut knowledge
  • Livestock handling
  • Meat plant or abattoir experience
  • Fast-paced production environments
  • Food processing or factory experience

Experience processing:

  • Sheep/Lamb
  • Beef/Cattle
  • Pork
  • Goats
  • Poultry

Relevant meat industry qualifications are advantageous but not essential.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of proven and documented experience within the meat processing industry.
  • Physically fit and capable of working in chilled production environments.
  • Strong knife handling skills.
  • Ability to work safely within a production team.
  • Reliable with excellent attendance.
