An experienced and skilled Chef de Partie is required for a full-time position in a busy, high-quality kitchen based in Auckland. This role involves assisting in all areas of kitchen operation including food preparation, team coordination, inventory control, and upholding high food and hygiene standards. The position is suited to a motivated and professional individual with strong culinary and organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Executive Chef with planning, preparation, and delivery of high-quality dishes.

Manage daily production, stock levels, and purchasing to meet service needs.

Maintain consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control.

Lead sections of the kitchen as required and delegate tasks efficiently during service.

Train and guide junior kitchen staff and kitchenhands in food safety and preparation standards.

Uphold all food hygiene and safety procedures and ensure compliance with the Food Control Plan.

Monitor food waste, quality, and cost controls.

Communicate clearly with team members and support effective workflow between kitchen and front-of-house teams.

Maintain high personal presentation and set a positive example for the kitchen team.
Minimum Requirements:

A relevant culinary qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher.

At least 5 years of proven and documented experience working in commercial kitchens, including experience in food preparation, cooking, service, and kitchen coordination.

Strong organisational and time management skills.

Excellent communication and ability to work as part of a fast-paced team.

High standard of cleanliness and commitment to food safety.

Flexible availability including weekends, evenings, and rotating rosters.

Must meet Immigration New Zealand’s English language requirements for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).
Acceptable evidence of English proficiency must be submitted at the time of application.

Clean police record and ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
