Experienced Drillers are required for full-time positions working across the South Island of New Zealand. These roles involve operating drilling equipment in remote and challenging environments, supporting mineral exploration, geotechnical, and related drilling projects.

This is a physically demanding, hands-on position suited to experienced drilling professionals who enjoy working outdoors, leading small teams, and maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and oversee drilling equipment and drilling operations.
  • Lead and work alongside drill offsiders as part of a professional drilling crew.
  • Carry out drilling activities safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
  • Monitor ground conditions and adjust drilling techniques as required.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and basic mechanical maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and complete required documentation.
  • Work safely in remote outdoor environments and challenging terrain.
  • Stay in remote accommodation or drill camps when required.
  • Follow all workplace health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 5 years of proven and documented experience working as a Driller.
  • Strong understanding of drilling operations, drilling equipment, and safe work practices.
  • Physically fit and capable of working 12-hour shifts in demanding outdoor environments.
  • Comfortable working in remote locations and staying away from home when required.
  • Mechanically minded with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot drilling equipment.
  • Current driver's licence required (Class 4 licence or equivalent is advantageous).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to lead small crews and maintain high safety standards.

Immigration Requirements

Applicants requiring visa support must:

  • Meet Immigration New Zealand's English language requirements for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) and provide acceptable evidence of English proficiency at the time of application.
  • Meet Immigration New Zealand's health requirements, including medical examinations if requested.
  • Meet Immigration New Zealand's character requirements, including police certificates where required.
  • Be able to pass pre-employment and ongoing medical, drug, and alcohol testing where required.
  • Provide verifiable work experience documentation, including employment records, contracts, and reference letters.
