Two experienced Refrigeration Technicians with CO₂ refrigeration experience are required for a full-time positions in New Zealand.
This role is suited to a skilled refrigeration professional with strong experience in the installation, servicing, maintenance and fault-finding of commercial refrigeration systems, particularly systems using CO₂.
Previous experience working on supermarket refrigeration systems is highly advantageous but is not essential. Applicants from other commercial or industrial refrigeration environments with strong CO₂ experience are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, diagnose and repair commercial refrigeration systems.
- Work with CO₂ refrigeration systems and associated equipment.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical and refrigeration faults.
- Carry out preventative and scheduled maintenance.
- Respond to refrigeration breakdowns and complete repairs efficiently.
- Install and commission refrigeration equipment and components where required.
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Read and interpret refrigeration schematics, electrical diagrams and technical documentation.
- Work with compressors, evaporators, condensers, valves, controls and associated refrigeration equipment.
- Complete service documentation and maintenance records accurately.
- Follow all workplace health and safety, environmental and refrigerant handling requirements.
- Work independently and as part of a wider technical team.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 3 years of proven and documented refrigeration experience.
- Practical experience working with CO₂ refrigeration systems is required.
- Strong commercial or industrial refrigeration experience.
- Excellent refrigeration fault-finding and diagnostic capability.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration controls and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and electrical diagrams.
- Relevant refrigeration, HVAC or mechanical trade qualification.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage service and maintenance requirements effectively.
- Current driver's licence or ability to obtain the appropriate New Zealand licence.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Highly Advantageous Experience
- Supermarket refrigeration experience.
- CO₂ transcritical and/or subcritical refrigeration systems.
- Commercial refrigeration racks and plant.
- Refrigeration control and monitoring systems.
- Commissioning commercial refrigeration systems.
- Planned maintenance and breakdown servicing.
- Experience working in environments where refrigeration equipment is critical to continuous operations.
