Experienced Class 5 Truck Drivers are required for full-time driving positions in New Zealand.

These roles are suited to professional heavy vehicle drivers with proven experience operating Class 5 vehicles, including truck and trailer units. Applicants must have a strong commitment to road safety, vehicle care and professional driving standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Class 5 heavy combination vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Transport freight, materials or equipment between designated locations.
  • Complete daily pre-start and vehicle safety inspections.
  • Ensure loads are appropriately positioned, restrained and secured.
  • Couple and uncouple trailers safely.
  • Monitor vehicle condition and report faults or maintenance requirements.
  • Complete required driving, delivery and transport documentation.
  • Comply with applicable driving hours, logbook and fatigue management requirements.
  • Follow loading and unloading procedures.
  • Maintain communication with dispatch, customers and operational staff.
  • Keep vehicles clean and presentable.
  • Follow company health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Operate professionally when dealing with customers, worksites and other road users.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 3 years of proven and verifiable heavy truck driving experience.
  • Significant experience operating heavy combination vehicles equivalent to New Zealand Class 5.
  • A current heavy vehicle driver's licence appropriate to the vehicles operated in the applicant's home country.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain or convert to the appropriate New Zealand driver licence where required before undertaking driving duties.
  • Proven truck and trailer driving experience.
  • Strong understanding of heavy vehicle and road safety.
  • Experience securing and transporting loads safely.
  • Ability to undertake vehicle inspections and identify basic mechanical or safety issues.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Reliable and capable of working independently.
  • Physically capable of completing the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing where required.

Highly Regarded Experience

Experience in any of the following will be advantageous:

  • Truck and trailer combinations.
  • Semi-trailers and articulated vehicles.
  • Road transport and freight.
  • Bulk haulage.
  • Construction or civil transport.
  • Agricultural or rural transport.
  • Tipping units.
  • Heavy equipment transport.
  • Long-distance driving.

Work Experience Evidence

Applicants must provide verifiable evidence of their heavy vehicle driving experience.

Evidence may include:

  • Employment reference or experience letters.
  • Certificates of employment.
  • Employment contracts.
  • Payslips or payroll records.
  • Tax or social security records where available.
  • Copies of current and previous heavy vehicle licences.
  • Other reliable documentation confirming employment, driving duties and length of experience.

Applicants unable to provide sufficient evidence of their claimed heavy vehicle driving experience may not be considered.

Immigration Requirements

Applicants requiring visa support must:

  • Meet the applicable Immigration New Zealand requirements for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).
  • Meet any applicable Immigration New Zealand English language requirements, with acceptable evidence provided where required.
  • Meet Immigration New Zealand's health and character requirements.
  • Provide satisfactory evidence supporting their employment history, driving experience and relevant licences.
  • Meet any New Zealand driver licensing requirements applicable to the position.
