Stainless Steel Fabricator
Accredited EmployerAn experienced Stainless Steel Fabricator is required for a full-time position within a professional engineering and fabrication environment.
This role is suited to a skilled tradesperson with strong hands-on experience fabricating stainless steel components, equipment, pipework and structures. Applicants must be capable of working accurately from engineering drawings and producing high-quality finished work to commercial and industrial standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate stainless steel components, assemblies and equipment from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Measure, mark out, cut, form and assemble stainless steel materials.
- Carry out TIG welding of stainless steel to a high standard.
- Undertake MIG welding where required.
- Fabricate stainless steel sheet, plate, tube and pipe.
- Fit and assemble fabricated components accurately.
- Use grinders, saws, drills, presses, folders and other fabrication equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans and technical specifications.
- Check dimensions, tolerances, alignment and finished assemblies for accuracy.
- Grind, clean, polish and finish stainless steel welds and fabricated components.
- Carry out modifications and repairs to existing equipment where required.
- Identify fabrication issues and develop practical solutions.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
- Work independently and as part of an established fabrication team.
- Follow workplace quality, health and safety procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 3 years of proven and verifiable experience in stainless steel fabrication or a closely related trade.
- Strong practical experience fabricating stainless steel.
- Excellent TIG welding skills.
- Experience working with stainless steel sheet, plate, tube and/or pipe.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong measuring, marking-out, cutting and fabrication skills.
- Experience fitting and assembling fabricated components.
- Good understanding of fabrication tolerances and quality requirements.
- Ability to produce clean, accurate and high-quality finished work.
- Competent using fabrication machinery, hand tools and power tools.
- Relevant fabrication, welding or engineering trade qualification is highly advantageous.
- Physically fit and capable of undertaking practical fabrication work.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded:
- Stainless steel TIG welding.
- Stainless steel pipe fabrication and welding.
- Sheet metal and light fabrication.
- Food-grade stainless steel fabrication.
- Hygienic fabrication and finishing.
- Industrial machinery or equipment fabrication.
- Tanks, hoppers, conveyors or processing equipment.
- Stainless steel polishing and finishing.
- Fabrication from detailed engineering drawings.
- Experience working within food processing, dairy, manufacturing or industrial engineering environments.
Work Experience Evidence
Applicants must provide verifiable evidence of their relevant fabrication and welding experience.
Evidence may include:
- Employment reference or experience letters.
- Certificates of employment.
- Employment contracts.
- Payslips or payroll records.
- Tax or social security records where available.
- Trade or welding qualifications and certificates.
- Other reliable documentation confirming employment, duties and length of experience.
Employment evidence should ideally confirm the applicant's stainless steel fabrication and welding duties, rather than simply describing their position as a welder or fabricator.
Applicants unable to provide sufficient evidence of their claimed experience may not be considered.

- Meet the applicable Immigration New Zealand requirements for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).
- Meet any applicable Immigration New Zealand English language requirements, with acceptable evidence provided where required.
- Meet Immigration New Zealand's health requirements.
- Meet Immigration New Zealand's character requirements, including police certificates where required.
- Provide satisfactory evidence supporting their qualifications, employment history, skills and experience.
- Be able to obtain the appropriate New Zealand work visa before commencing employment.
