Experienced Fire Alarm Technicians are required for full-time roles based in Christchurch, servicing commercial, industrial, and residential clients throughout the Canterbury region.
These positions suit technicians with experience in the installation, servicing, inspection, maintenance, and fault-finding of fire alarm systems. The role offers a diverse workload including annual inspections, remedial maintenance, fault diagnosis, and assisting with new system installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out annual inspections, testing, and servicing of fire alarm systems.
- Diagnose faults and complete remedial maintenance and repairs.
- Install, commission, and maintain fire detection and alarm systems.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams.
- Complete all required service reports, inspection records, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with New Zealand fire protection standards and relevant regulations.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with customers and site personnel.
- Work independently and as part of a wider technical team.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Follow all workplace health, safety, and quality procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 5 years of proven and documented experience working with fire alarm systems or electronic fire protection systems.
- Level 4 Fire Alarm Technician qualification is preferred; however, applicants with significant industry experience and the willingness to complete relevant qualifications are encouraged to apply.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Current driver's licence required.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while also contributing effectively within a team.
- Self-motivated with excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out installation and maintenance work.
