Experienced Formworkers / Residential Carpenters are required for full-time construction opportunities in Invercargill, New Zealand.

The role is suited to experienced carpenters who are confident undertaking both concrete formwork and general residential carpentry. Applicants must be practical, physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying New Zealand weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct, erect and dismantle formwork for concrete structures.
  • Build formwork for foundations, footings, slabs, walls, columns and other concrete elements.
  • Measure, cut and assemble timber and other formwork materials.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Carry out residential framing and general carpentry work.
  • Install timber framing, flooring, roofing and other building components.
  • Complete alterations, repairs and general construction work as required.
  • Accurately measure, level and set out work.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Work alongside concreters, steel fixers and other construction trades.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and site safety.
  • Work effectively outdoors throughout the year.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 3 years of proven and documented experience as a Formworker, Carpenter or in a closely related construction role.
  • Strong practical experience in concrete formwork and/or residential carpentry.
  • Experience constructing and dismantling timber formwork.
  • Residential framing and general carpentry experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and measurements.
  • Competent using carpentry hand tools and power tools.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Physically fit and capable of undertaking demanding construction work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an established site team.
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Relevant carpentry or construction qualification is advantageous.
  • Current driver's licence is preferred.

Work Experience Evidence

Applicants must provide verifiable documentation confirming their relevant construction experience.

Evidence may include employment reference letters, certificates of employment, contracts, payslips, payroll records, tax or social security records, or other reliable evidence confirming employment, duties and length of experience.

Applicants unable to provide sufficient evidence of their claimed work experience will not be considered.

Immigration Requirements

Applicants requiring visa support must:

  • Meet the applicable Immigration New Zealand requirements for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).
  • Meet any applicable English language requirements, with acceptable evidence provided where required.
  • Meet Immigration New Zealand's health and character requirements.
  • Provide satisfactory evidence supporting their qualifications, employment history, skills and experience.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience across both formwork and residential carpentry.
  • Experience with foundations, slabs, walls and other concrete structures.
  • Residential framing and new-build experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate measuring skills.
  • Reliable, hardworking and safety conscious.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Comfortable undertaking physically demanding outdoor work.
