Industrial Electrician - EWRB REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY

Applicants MUST already hold current New Zealand electrical registration and a current practising licence issued through the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB).

Applications from candidates who do not currently hold the required New Zealand EWRB registration and practising licence cannot be considered for this position.

An experienced Industrial Electrician is required to join an established maintenance and engineering team supporting a large-scale food production and processing operation in Levin.

This is a hands-on industrial maintenance position involving electrical fault finding, preventative maintenance, breakdown response, repairs and ongoing improvement of production-critical electrical systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, overhaul, diagnose and repair industrial electrical equipment and systems.
• Work on 400-volt ring mains and associated electrical distribution systems.
• Maintain and repair AC, DC and servo motors.
• Diagnose and maintain PLCs, SCADA systems, PCs and associated industrial networks.
• Maintain motor starters and electrical control circuits.
• Work on general lighting and power circuits.
• Maintain synchronisation equipment and electrical production machinery.
• Maintain specialist food-processing equipment, including vacuum packaging and associated production equipment.
• Respond to electrical breakdowns and production-critical faults.
• Apply appropriate isolation, lockout and danger-tag procedures to unsafe or inoperable machinery.
• Assist with parts identification and procurement for maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using relevant maintenance and computer systems.
• Work closely with engineering and production supervisors to minimise downtime and maintain safe plant operation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance systems and production reliability.

Essential Requirements

• Current New Zealand electrical registration through the EWRB – MANDATORY.
• Current New Zealand Electrical Practising Licence – MANDATORY.
• At least 5 years of proven and documented electrical experience, preferably within an industrial, manufacturing, food processing or production environment.
• Strong industrial electrical fault-finding and diagnostic capability.
• Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment.
• Knowledge of industrial motors, control circuits and electrical distribution systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical isolation, lockout/tagout and safe maintenance procedures.
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively to production breakdowns.
• Good computer skills and ability to use maintenance management systems.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.

Preferred Experience

• Previous electrical maintenance experience within a food production or meat processing facility.
• PLC and SCADA experience.
• Experience with AC, DC and servo motors.
• Experience maintaining automated production and packaging equipment.
• First Aid Certificate.
• Experience using computerised maintenance management systems.
