An experienced Senior Refrigeration Technician is required for a full-time position with an established and growing New Zealand business operating across the commercial and industrial refrigeration sector.

This is a hands-on technical role covering installation, servicing, preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs across a variety of refrigeration and HVAC systems.

The position is particularly suited to an experienced technician with strong commercial refrigeration experience, fault-finding capability and the ability to work independently while providing a high standard of service to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, service, maintain and repair commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
  • Undertake preventative and scheduled maintenance.
  • Diagnose refrigeration, electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Carry out breakdown repairs and return equipment to service efficiently.
  • Test and commission refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
  • Identify faults and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
  • Work across a range of commercial and industrial customer sites.
  • Complete servicing and maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Communicate technical issues and repair requirements clearly.
  • Provide professional customer service and technical support.
  • Work independently and as part of an established technical team.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and service vehicles appropriately.
  • Follow all workplace and site health and safety requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant Refrigeration and Air Conditioning trade qualification or recognised equivalent.
  • Proven professional experience working as a Refrigeration Technician of 6 years minimum.
  • Strong experience servicing and maintaining commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Demonstrated diagnostic and fault-finding capability.
  • Strong understanding of refrigeration systems, components and controls.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems independently.
  • Experience undertaking servicing, maintenance and repair work.
  • Good communication skills and a professional customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned service work.
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Full driver's licence or ability to meet the applicable New Zealand driver licensing requirements.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded:

  • Commercial refrigeration.
  • Industrial refrigeration.
  • HVAC systems.
  • Refrigeration servicing and breakdowns.
  • Preventative maintenance.
  • Refrigeration system installation.
  • Electrical and control fault finding.
  • System commissioning.
  • Supermarket or food-processing refrigeration.
  • Large commercial refrigeration equipment.
  • Working independently across multiple customer sites.

  • Relevant refrigeration licences, registrations or certifications.
  • Other reliable documentation confirming employment, duties and length of experience.

Employment evidence should clearly demonstrate the applicant's refrigeration duties and relevant technical experience.

Applicants unable to provide sufficient evidence of their claimed qualifications and experience may not be considered.

Immigration Requirements

Applicants requiring visa support must:

  • Meet the applicable Immigration New Zealand requirements for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).
  • Meet any applicable Immigration New Zealand English language requirements, with acceptable evidence provided where required.
  • Meet Immigration New Zealand's health requirements, including medical examinations where required.
  • Meet Immigration New Zealand's character requirements, including police certificates where required.
  • Provide satisfactory evidence supporting their qualifications, employment history, skills and experience.
  • Be able to obtain the appropriate New Zealand work visa before commencing employment.
