This is a specialist agricultural machinery position. Applicants must have strong, recent experience servicing and repairing late-model tractors and agricultural equipment. Heavy truck or general diesel experience alone will not be sufficient.

Overseas applicants with the appropriate qualifications and directly relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair modern tractors and agricultural machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults.
  • Repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains and associated components.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems.
  • Use electronic diagnostic equipment and manufacturer software.
  • Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
  • Complete major and minor mechanical repairs.
  • Undertake field servicing and breakdown repairs where required.
  • Test machinery following repairs and servicing.
  • Complete service and repair documentation accurately.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and workplace safety.

Minimum Requirements

  • Recognised Heavy Diesel Mechanic qualification or equivalent relevant trade qualification.
  • At least 3 years of proven and verifiable Heavy Diesel Mechanic experience.
  • Strong, recent experience working on late-model agricultural machinery.
  • Good diesel engine, transmission and drivetrain diagnostic and repair skills.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding ability.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to work independently and undertake complex repairs.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics and manufacturer information.
  • Appropriate driver's licence or ability to obtain the required New Zealand licence.

Agricultural Machinery Experience

Experience with Massey Ferguson, Fendt and Valtra equipment will be particularly highly regarded.

Experience with other major agricultural machinery brands is also relevant, including:

  • John Deere
  • CLAAS
  • New Holland
  • Other comparable late-model agricultural machinery

Additional experience with electrical diagnostics, electronic control systems, air-conditioning, hydraulics and manufacturer diagnostic software will be advantageous.

Work Experience Evidence

Applicants must be able to provide verifiable evidence of their qualifications and relevant employment history.

This may include trade qualifications, employment reference letters, employment contracts, payslips, tax or social security records, manufacturer training certificates or other reliable employment evidence.

References should ideally identify the types of agricultural machinery worked on and the applicant's servicing, diagnostic and repair responsibilities.

Immigration Requirements

Applicants requiring visa support must:

  • Meet the applicable Immigration New Zealand requirements for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).
  • Meet any applicable English language requirements.
  • Meet Immigration New Zealand's health and character requirements.
  • Provide satisfactory evidence of their qualifications, skills and employment experience.
