Experienced Hammerhands

Experienced Hammerhands are required for full-time construction opportunities in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Applicants must have practical experience assisting qualified builders and carpenters with framing, installing building materials, operating power tools and general construction work.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist builders with timber framing and general construction.
• Measure, cut and install building materials.
• Operate construction hand tools and power tools.
• Assist with flooring, cladding, linings and other building work.
• Prepare construction sites and move materials.
• Follow instructions, construction plans and safety procedures.
• Maintain clean, tidy and safe work areas.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of proven and verifiable building or construction experience.
• Practical experience assisting builders or carpenters.
• Competent using construction hand tools and power tools.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Minimum English language ability equivalent to IELTS overall band score 5.0.
• Must be willing and able to pass an English language assessment or test.
• Able to understand workplace instructions and communicate effectively in English.
• Reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious.

Preferred Experience

• Timber framing and carpentry assistance.
• Residential or commercial construction.
• Cladding, flooring and interior linings.
• Reading basic construction drawings.
• Relevant construction qualifications or safety training.

Work Experience Evidence

Applicants must provide verifiable evidence confirming at least 2 years of relevant construction experience.

Acceptable evidence may include employment reference letters, employment contracts, payslips, tax or social security records, and relevant qualifications.

Employment references should describe the applicant's actual construction duties and employment dates.

Immigration Requirements

Applicants requiring visa support must:

• Meet applicable Immigration New Zealand Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) requirements.
• Meet any applicable INZ English language requirements.
• Meet INZ health and character requirements.
• Provide satisfactory evidence of their employment history and experience.
• Obtain the appropriate New Zealand work visa before commencing employment.
