Experienced Fire Alarm Technicians are required for full-time roles based in Christchurch, servicing commercial, industrial, and residential clients throughout the Canterbury region.

These positions suit technicians with experience in the installation, servicing, inspection, maintenance, and fault-finding of fire alarm systems. The role offers a diverse workload including annual inspections, remedial maintenance, fault diagnosis, and assisting with new system installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out annual inspections, testing, and servicing of fire alarm systems.
  • Diagnose faults and complete remedial maintenance and repairs.
  • Install, commission, and maintain fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams.
  • Complete all required service reports, inspection records, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure all work complies with New Zealand fire protection standards and relevant regulations.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers and site personnel.
  • Work independently and as part of a wider technical team.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Follow all workplace health, safety, and quality procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 5 years of proven and documented experience working with fire alarm systems or electronic fire protection systems.
  • Level 4 Fire Alarm Technician qualification is preferred; however, applicants with significant industry experience and the willingness to complete relevant qualifications are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Current driver's licence required.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously while also contributing effectively within a team.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Physically fit and capable of carrying out installation and maintenance work.

Immigration Requirements

  • Meet Immigration New Zealand's English language requirements for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) and provide acceptable evidence of English proficiency at the time of application.
  • Meet Immigration New Zealand's health requirements, including medical examinations if requested.
  • Meet Immigration New Zealand's character requirements, including police certificates where required.
  • Provide verifiable work experience documentation, including employment records, contracts, trade qualifications, and reference letters.
