An experienced Hammer Hand with strong Rondo ceiling system experience is required for full-time commercial interior construction work in New Zealand.

This role is specifically suited to applicants with hands-on experience installing Rondo suspended ceiling and framing systems. Applicants should be confident measuring, cutting, setting out and assisting with the installation of commercial ceiling and interior framing systems.

Experience with GIB fixing, steel stud framing, suspended ceilings, specialist linings and commercial interior fit-outs will also be highly regarded. These are all relevant to the broader Hammer Hand duties required for the position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and assist with Rondo ceiling and framing systems.
  • Install suspended ceiling systems and ceiling components.
  • Measure, mark and cut materials accurately.
  • Assist with setting out ceiling and framing systems.
  • Install steel stud framing.
  • Assist with GIB and plasterboard fixing.
  • Install specialist wall and ceiling linings.
  • Assist with aluminium partitioning systems.
  • Read and interpret basic construction drawings and plans.
  • Ensure materials are installed according to plans and manufacturer requirements.
  • Use construction hand and power tools safely.
  • Check completed work for alignment, level and quality.
  • Identify and report installation or material issues.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Keep work areas clean, organised and safe.
  • Follow all site health and safety procedures.

The underlying Hammer Hand position includes measuring and cutting materials from plans, installation work and completing work to a high standard.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 2 years of proven and verifiable building or construction experience.
  • Practical experience installing Rondo ceiling and/or framing systems.
  • Experience with suspended ceiling installation.
  • Good understanding of steel framing and ceiling construction.
  • Ability to accurately measure, mark and cut construction materials.
  • Competent using common construction hand and power tools.
  • Ability to follow plans, drawings and installation instructions.
  • Physically fit and capable of undertaking demanding construction work.
  • Comfortable working from ladders, scaffolding or elevated platforms where appropriately trained.
  • Good practical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Reliable with a good work ethic.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a construction team.
  • Able to pass pre-employment medical and drug testing.

The employer's underlying Hammer Hand requirements specify at least 2 years' building/construction experience, physical fitness, safe working practices, reliability and practical problem-solving ability.

Work Experience Evidence

Applicants must be able to provide verifiable evidence of their relevant construction experience.

Evidence may include employment reference or experience letters, certificates of employment, employment contracts, payslips or payroll records, tax or social security records, construction qualifications or other reliable documentation confirming employment and duties.

Employment references should ideally specifically confirm experience with suspended ceilings, Rondo systems, steel framing or commercial interior installation.
